Thousands of students, schoolchildren and Rostovites of different ages gathered at the Festival grounds to get acquainted with educational, scientific and technical trends of the past, present and future of our country and southern Russia.

The opening ceremony of the Scientific Festival was attended by acting deputy plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Southern Federal District, Vladimir Gurba. SFU Rector Inna Shevchenko thanked the university’s partners, the universities of the Southern Federal District and the North Caucasus Federal District, LPR and DPR, as well as the new territories of our country, for their participation and assistance in the organization of the festival: “The scientific achievements that were achieved in the past determine today our technological leadership and the competitiveness of our country. And today’s exhibition is dedicated precisely to this, moreover, it is built in the context of advanced scientific schools: engineering, natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, sports, tourism. and creative industries – to show children not only the wonderful world of science, but also the professional future they can build for themselves. For us, the Science Festival is not only a community, a platform to meet with scientists and experts, but also a lot of professional guidance work so that our schoolchildren can make a conscious decision.”

Today at the Festival we held a meeting of SFU graduates and winners of the “Smart Scholarship” competition.

The organizer of the Science Festival, the Southern Federal University, together with its partners, prepared an extensive business and exhibition program. Each Festival guest could choose the event they liked, which included master classes, trainings, conferences, round tables and even scientific conferences.

The Festival’s business agenda included several events, including a meeting of the Council of the Southern Russian Educational Cluster. Leaders and representatives of educational organizations from southern Russia participated. During the meeting, projects on the organization of early vocational guidance for schoolchildren, training of teaching staff, new mechanisms for recruiting young teachers, experience of interaction with the main federal organizations of additional education, as well as a presentation of important regional social and educational projects and more.

This year, the South Russian Science Festival was visited by a special guest – Russian publicist, TV presenter, participant in television intellectual games and deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Anatoly Wasserman. Anatoly Alexandrovich spoke to schoolchildren and students about complex scientific phenomena in simple and understandable language.

The expert noted that each new generation is somehow different, because it grows in new conditions, and this is the development of the scientific community.

“I do not expect any specific innovations, I am sure that they will change our lives, but I do not intend to predict exactly what. The main beauty of the new is precisely that it is unpredictable,” added Anatoly Wasserman.

The lecturer further added that it is impossible to simply dispel any existing myths. “As long as there is someone interested in promoting the myth, it is impossible to get rid of it completely. However, the area of ​​its spread can be influenced,” said Anatoly Wasserman.

The guests of the South Russian Science Festival were interested in whether a traditional family will become a privilege in the world of future technologies, whether the personal ambitions of scientists advance science, how intelligence is fundamentally different artificial intelligence of human intelligence and whether leaders are born or become.

The conversation was moderated by Evgeny Mukhanov, Vice-Rector of the Southern Federal University for Strategic and Innovative Development. Issues were raised such as the diversity of frontiers in science, the pace of scientific progress and the associated risks, the purpose of a true researcher and the role of the social sciences and humanities in shaping the image of the future.

The exhibition was represented by four zones: the higher school of engineering, the higher school of natural sciences, the higher school of social sciences and humanities, the higher school of sports, tourism and creative industries.
