Eight KHL regular season games were played on September 18. Let’s summarize them.
Neftekhimik still cannot get out of the hole he fell into since the beginning of the season. Today the problems began already in the first seconds, and when three minutes later the second puck hit the goal, Garipov replaced Tikhomirov. This stopped Barys only for a short time: in the second half of the match, the Astana team scored six more goals (!). The third match between Traktor and Lada this month turned out to be the same as the first two: close, combative and with few goals. And again the intrigue continued until the end: after the exchange of goals in the second half, the rivals fought for the rest of the game. “Traktor” had more initiative, but “Lada” knew how to hold on, and three minutes before the end Nikita Anokhovsky scored his first goal in the KHL and gave the Togliatti team its fourth victory in the last five games.

Magnitka returned the favor to their Ural neighbors for their defeat at the beginning of the season, and at the same time did not allow them to equal points in the standings. After scoring fairly quickly on the power play, Metallurg repeated this trick early in the second period. Zavarukhin’s team managed to quickly recover, one of the goals was scored by Alexey Byvaltsev, for whom this was the first goal of the new team. But Magnitogorsk reached the second break with the advantage and in the end carried the matter quite calmly to victory.

Torpedo remained undefeated for the longest time this season, but the first, in the previous match, was followed by a second. The only goal in Ufa had to wait until extra time, in which Nizhny Novgorod entered the minority due to the elimination of Mikhail Orlov. Ufa took a risk and got its reward: Vyacheslav Leshchenko converted “five against three” when he played without a goalkeeper.

Yaroslav Likhachev began to score goals one after another for Lokomotiv – the striker scored for the third game in a row! But if Ivan Fedotov couldn’t do anything about the first goal, then the second goal was the result of his own ridiculous and fatal mistake. In the third period, Anton Slepyshev pulled one goal back, ensuring a tense finale, but Isaev played beyond all praise, and the entire Lokomotiv team was more solid in the match and deservedly won.

Who would have thought, but Ak Bars and Vityaz played an invigorating match that had it all. The Knights first scored in the first minute, then came back from 1:3 and in the end were less than a minute away from winning. Dmitry Yashkin scored a hat-trick and, after Shipachev’s goal in extra time, Shikin hit the goal in the heart with his stick.

Sochi continues to impress at the start of the season. The southerners showed an enviable performance, scoring five goals in 19 shots against Severstal. The Cherepovites pressed and pressed and still managed to tie at the beginning of the third period, but in the end Dmitry Kokorev’s team mercilessly punished the opponent for defensive errors. As a result, this is Sochi’s fourth consecutive victory and moved to third place in the West.
