He noted that the EC’s decision not to extend the ban on the supply of Ukrainian grain to five EU countries bordering Ukraine is already scandalous and unacceptable.
However, the minister was particularly dissatisfied with the fact that, before making the decision, Ursula von der Leyen discussed this issue not with the leaders of the EU countries, but with the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky.
Nagy noted that the leaders of the European Union are elected by the bloc’s member countries.
“They are responsible to them, they should support them, but instead the interests of a third country completely alien to them are more important than the interests of the EU member states,” said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture.
On September 15, the European Commission refused to extend the ban on supplies of grain from Ukraine to EU countries. However, starting the next day, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia on their own banned the import of Ukrainian agricultural products into their countries.
In response, kyiv filed a lawsuit against these countries at the WTO.
